WE KNOW CANADIAN IMMIGRATION LAW
The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) is the source of all Canadian immigration rules and regulations. IRPA strengthens Canada’s economic, social and cultural prosperity by helping ensure Canadian safety and security while managing one of the largest and most generous immigration programs in the world.
Family Class immigrants are people sponsored to come to, or remain in Canada by a relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. You may be able to sponsor spouses or common-law partners who want to become permanent residents of Canada if they live outside of Canada or if they live in Canada as a temporary worker or visitor. In order to sponsor a family member, the sponsor must meet certain eligibility criteria, and the people you sponsor must also meet some eligibility factors..
As signatory to the Geneva Convention of 1951, Canada is obligated to offer protection for refugees who arrive on its shores and claim asylum. Refugees seeking asylum in Canada are knows as refugee claimants. In order to be permanently accepted in Canada, they must first be determined eligible as refugees by the Immigration Refugee Board (IRB). Canada also offers protection in the form of resettlement or sponsorship.
The Economic class supports Canada’s economic growth by selecting immigrants with essential and transferable skills that contribute to success and adaptability in the Canadian labour market. The emphasis is on their level of education, previous work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, age, arranged employment, and adaptability. Under this class there are the following streams:
Federal Skilled Worker Program
Federal Skilled Trades Program
Provincial Nominee Program
Canadian Experience Program
Business Immigration Program
(Investor, Entrepreneur and Self-Employed Persons)
Currently, most visitors to Canada may visit for up to six months when they first enter Canada. Visitors who wish to stay longer must apply for an extension, and pay a new fee. With the parent and grandparent super visa, eligible parents and grandparents can visit family in Canada for up to two years without the
need to renew their status. The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The key difference is that the Super Visa allows an individual to stay for up to two years on initial entry into Canada, while a 10-year multiple entry visa would only have a status period
for each entry of six months only. Should you have a question or need a consultation regarding super visa please contact AfriHorn Immigration Services.
Each year, thousands of students enter Canada to study in a variety of programs.
